OPI Rising Star VS Elianto Bronzy

After swatching OPI Rising Star the other day, I realised somehow that this colour reminded me of another polish that I have. It's Elianto Bronzy.

IRL OPI Rising Star looks just a tad darker than Elianto Bronzy but if I didn't tell you, you probably won't be able to tell any difference.

OPI In The Spotlight Pink

This is the 3rd polish from OPI Femme De Cirque Collection.

OPI In The Spotlight Pink in the bottle is of soft sheer pink. However, even with 3 layers of polish on my fingernails, I can't really see if it's even pink. It looks more like off-white towards pink.

Polish is very shiny and drying time is great.

Please don't mind the yellowish nails.

Essie Van D'Go & China Glaze Crackle Broken Hearted

Another pink polish. This time is light pink, it's leaning towards flourescent but not really.

Application was hard. It was really streaky and uneven upon 1st coat. 2nd coat did cover up the streakiness, whoever, I can still see that it's uneven.

Drying time was standard for an Essie colour.

Conclusion - not my favourite colour but that will do for now.

Got a little crazy and decided to paint China Glaze Crackle Broken Hearted. It looks so much better IMO!

China Glaze Second-Hand Silk

China Glaze Second-Hand Silk is a very lovely colour. It's creme and warm pink. I think it looks great with my skintone.

However, application sucks big time. It's uneven, streaky and the brush was uneven. I'm not sure if it came that way or if my sister tried to cut the brush so it will be smaller to suit her smaller nails. This is 2 coats.

Drying time sucks as well because the polish was slightly thick. I probably should've change the brush or if I have any old CG caps with brushes, I'd change it but most of the polishes aren't even used up to the last drop yet.

OPI Ali's Big Break

This is from the OPI Burlesque Collection. I don't feel that OPI Ali's Big Break is special. Well, not really what I have hoped for. I wished it has more shimmer to it though.

This is 2 coats.

OPI Take The Stage

Another polish from OPI Burlesque Collection. This is OPI Take The Stage.

How should I describe this? It's more to copper bronze-ish shimmer polish. I'm 50/50 with this colour. I don't exactly like it but then again, I don't hate it either. Might have to give it some time to get used to this.

Application was easy and this was 2 coats. Apologies for the messy application as I was applying under very bad lighting. The mess did not show under the bad lighting though. Should really apply under flourscent lighting next time!

Answer Session: CND Stickey - Yellowing Nails

Brynn Davies said...

Hi hun, goodday to ye.

Ive seen in yer previous posts ye've been using CND stickey. How do ye rate it as a base coat, as compared to others? In matters of staining, I mean.

Have ye tried other brands of base coats and came back to it?
Hope to get an opinion or two from ye regarding this. Ive used Orly bonder and boy it stains like a fiend.

Now looking into Nubar and CND. Staying power aint that important to me, it's how well it protects against the stains that gets me interested.

Hope ye could provide some insight hun. Cheers and best regards.

Hey Brynn,

Thank you so much for your query.

I have been using CND Stickey for a good few years now. Previously, I was using CND Ridge Out as a base coat. Unfortunately CND Ridge Out does stain my nails as well.
I have also previously used some cheap unbranded base coats but not much luck! However, I am not too concern of the yellowish stains. I prefer something that will hold on to the polishes longer.

You should not be facing this problem if you are not constantly applying nail polishes. I only find that my nails stain after the 3rd manicure. But currently, it stains like crap as I never go without polished nails.

I have read online that the only way is to just grow it out and trim the yellowish part away. You could also try a smooth buff to buff away the top part of the nails. See if it get rids of the stain.

I do not think there is a 100% solution to prevent staining since most polishes - even the pale/sheer shades will stain.

Hope this helps!
